Powering Resilience Forum 2017
An Overview - Bringing You Closer!

If left unchecked, climate change could potentially overwhelm existing development efforts. Taking the challenge of climate change seriously requires a broad focus on its impacts as well as the continued viability of clean, renewable energy sources - hydropower, wind, geothermal and solar. Nowhere is this more important than in Africa, a region that is responsible for a small share of global greenhouse gas emissions, but whose people bear a disproportionate share of the devastating effects of more extreme climate patterns. The good news is that Africa has the ability to manage the effects of climate change and build resilience.

Developers and Senior Officials present details of their company’s and countries Africa projects.

How do we design and build essential energy infrastructure needed for Africa’s development, while factoring in and addressing the challenge of climate resilience?

The Powering Resilience (with Renewables) Forum tackles that challenge head on, notably by bringing together African Ministries of Energy, the African Union Commission and its New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD) framework; the UN’s Economic Commission for Africa and its African Climate Policy Centre; and the array of river basin authorities, electric power pools, OPIC, renowned experts, developers, investors, regulators and technology and services suppliers.

Business Matchmaking Lengthy one-on-one meetings provide the perfect environment for networking and deal making.

Powering Resilience (with Renewables) will be held once again in Addis Ababa; the diplomatic and historical capital of Africa and host to several important renewable energy projects like the Grand Renaissance Dam, Koysha Dam, and the 500MW scaling Solar program.

The Powering Resilience Forum offers a more intimate way of gaining new opportunities and customers from that of exhibitions and conferences enabling more networking and face time through longer refreshment and lunch breaks, dedicated networking and exhibiting zones, a gala dinner and pre-scheduled match making meetings using the latest ‘meeting’ software’.

CEOs discuss market perspective and provide big picture commentary with audience participation.

Those that attended last year agree that this is now their preferred deal making platform for Renewable Energy opportunities in Africa. The event brings together suppliers who are looking to sell to the developers, developers who seek investment, investors who want to strike deals with government ministers and ministers who want to engage all groups to discuss new opportunities in their countries.

Powering Resilience enjoys the added value of partnering officially with the African Union Commission; Department of Energy and Infrastructure, the Economic Commission of Africa and the Ethiopian Ministry of Energy.
