It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the 10th Anniversary of the Africa Mining Summit (AMS). As we gather to celebrate a decade of progress and collaboration, I am honoured to Chair the day devoted to Energy, Coal and Energy Transition - a topic that is not only timely but also critical to the future of Africa’s energy landscape.
 
Day one’s sessions present a unique opportunity for us to collectively shape the future of oil, natural gas, and coal in Africa. Our continent is blessed with abundant natural resources, and how we manage these resources will significantly impact not only our economies but also the well-being of our people and the environment. The conversations we have here today will play a pivotal role in determining how Africa navigates its energy journey in the years to come.
 
We are privileged to have an outstanding lineup of Keynote Speakers and Panellists who will lead us in exploring the complex yet crucial topics that define our industry. We will delve into the role of Hydrocarbons within the broader energy transition. The challenges of sustainability within the hydrocarbons industry are multifaceted - we will address these head-on, seeking innovative solutions that align economic growth with environmental stewardship.
 
Moreover, our discussions will explore pathways toward cleaner technologies. This is not just about reducing our carbon footprint; it is about securing a future where energy production and consumption are efficient, responsible, and inclusive. The integration of cleaner technologies is no longer a choice but a necessity, our dialogue will be instrumental in charting that course.
